Saturday night on X Factor was billed as Movie Night so you would have expected all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Sadly, for the majority of the show it wasn't to be as X Factor contestants took to the stage and failed to impress.
There were bad song choices, bum notes and weak vocals. Andrea Faustini has so much potential yet he or his mentor Mel B always chooses a big diva number as his song choice. It's getting boring now.
Jake Quickenden may work very hard all week to give us his performance at the weekend but unfortunately he never really hits the spot despite looking the part.
There's no doubt Ben Haenow is a good singer yet I find myself switching off during his performance. Fleur East insists adding rap to all her numbers which may show versatility however, it's only versatile if you don't do it all the time.
Lola Saunders was out of tune for the majority of her performance yet it wasn't until Simon Cowell apparently watched the show back did he make this statement. One can only presume the acts sound very different in the arena probably because you can't hear them over the audience's screams.
Jack Walton's Eye Of The Tiger rendition was strange to say the least. It was very obvious his mentor Mel B wasn't taken with the song choice either but allowed it to go ahead. It seemed pretty obvious Jack and Mel have their issues.
Only The Young have great chemistry but have yet to find a genre of music that suit's them other than the 50's and 60's genre they admitted being totally into during week one.
Lauren Platt gave a sturdy rendition of Let It Go from the Disney block buster Frozen. A great song choice given the popularity of the movie. Paul Akister stepped up a gear giving a confident performance of Try A Little Tenderness. Paul looked comfortable on the stage for the first time during this competition.
Jay James as usual gave it his all as he sang the James Bond theme song Skyfall. Jay always puts his heart, soul and oodles of emotion in to his performances and get's rave reviews because of it.
It came to light that Louis Walsh was on the verge of culling two members of Stereo Kicks last week but the lads stuck together, refused and then picked the song choice of a Let It Be / Hey Jude medley without any input from Louis. Well done lads, their best performance so far proving, as suspected, Louis Walsh has no place on X Factor.
Mr Wash also had the audacity to tell Stevie Richie it was his time to go home. This man backed Jedward and Wagner. Maybe it's time for Louis Walsh to hang up his X Factor hat and call it a day.
Stevie Richie is far from the best singer but he is improving and he's certainly the most entertaining. Stevie Richie looks set to be in the competition for a little while longer as viewers take this unlikely popstar to their hearts.
Jake Quickenden found himselve in the sing-off with Only The Young. Both sounded awful but it was Jake who sacrificed his place in th X Factor 2014
Despite any of my opinions Andrea Fustini is still bookies favourite for the win. Jack Walton has odds of 2/1 to be eliminated this weekend while Only The Young odds stand at 7/2.
