Vera Zvonareva has gone from being the hunter to being the hunted

of Russia will be aiming to make a great run next season and back up her superb 2010 campaign.

At the start of the year Zvonareva was in the shadow of many of her illustrious compatriot and trying to make it on the WTA tour against the best players in the world.

Almost a year on and Zvonareva is now one of the majors stars in women’s tennis, this summer she beat Kim Clijsters at Wimbledon and went on to reach her 1^st Grand Slam final where she lost in straight sets to the then world number 1 Serena Williams of the USA.

The Russian backed up that superb run later on in the summer by reaching the final of the US Open in Flushing Meadows New York where she lost in straight sets to the Belgian Kim Clijsters.

It was a 3^rd US Open title for Clijsters.
