Serena Williams looks finish the year in style

of the USA will be aiming to finish this season on a high and to reaffirm her position as the number 1 player in the world.

The American won her 5th Australian Open title in Melbourne this year, when she beat the former world number 1 Justin Henin of Belgium in 3 tight sets.

Serena then won a 4th Wimbledon crown this summer when she brushed aside the Russian Vera Zvonareva in the final in straight sets.

A freak injury soon after Wimbledon however forced Serena to pull out of the US Open in Flushing Meadows New York, and Kim Clijsters of Belgium managed to win the title for the 3rd time in her career also beating Zvonareva in the final.

Serena herself is a 3 time US Open champion and she last won the title in 2008 when she beat the former world number 1 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia.
