of Argentina is set to drop out of the world’s top 100 at the start of next season after having to pull out from the rest of the season due to injury.
The Argentine made a superb start to his career as he stunned the tennis world last year by beating Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the semi final of the US Open in Flushing Meadows New York.
Del Potro backed up that form by winning his 1st Grand Slam title when he beat Roger Federer in the final in 5 sets 3-6 7-6 4-6 7-6 6-2. To date Del Potro is still the only player to have beaten both Federer and Nada in the same major tournament.
A wrist injury however suffered at the start of the year in the Australian Open had ruled Del Potro out until 2 weeks ago, but a fresh injury concern now means that he will not play again till next season.
