Murray has been in poor form lately and he desperately needs a good run this week in Shanghai in order to ensure that he does qualify for the ATP World tour finals next month which will be held at the O2 Arena in London.
The Scot was many peoples favourite to win the US Open in New York last month but he lost in 4 sets in the 3rd round to the Swiss number 2 Stanislas Wawrinka in 4 sets 6-7 7-6 6-3 6-3.
Murray then lost in the Quarter finals last week of the ATP 500 event in Beijing China however he lost in straight sets to the former world number 3 Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia.
At his best the Croat can beat anyone in the world.
