The Spaniard has been one of the form men on Clay this season, he made the Semi Finals of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo before losing in straight sets to Rafael Nadal, he then reached the 1st Masters 1000 final of his career in Rome losing once again to Nadal in straight sets.
Ferrer then reached the Semis in Madrid but went down to the world number 1 Roger Federer in straight sets. Ferrer managed to beat the British Number 1 and World Number 4 in both Rome and Madrid.
Ferrer’s best performance in a Grand Slam was in 2007 at the US Open when he reached the US Open Semi Final before losing out to Novak Djokovic however his game is best suited to clay.
