of France will be looking for an improved performance in Clay at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome this week.
The Frenchman enjoyed the best win of his career back in 2008 when he finished in the top 8 in the world and qualified for the ATP Masters Cup in Shanghai China, he then reached the Semi Finals in Shanghai before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
In 2008 Simon also managed to beat Roger Federer twice and Rafael Nadal in the semi finals in Madrid.
Simon has been in poor form in recent times but he will be hoping that he can have a good run on clay, given his supreme defensive skills the clay should be a surface that suits Simon’s game well.
If the Frenchman plays to his best over the next few weeks then he is capable of gaining a few upsets this week.
